The Toronto FC goalkeeper Joe Bendik took matters into his own hands in a vain attempt to keep his side’s MLS playoff hopes alive against Montreal Impact.

In the closing stages of an ill-tempered 1-1 draw – with Toronto knowing that nothing less than three points would do – Bendik took exception to the Impact’s Felipe nursing an injury near the touchline and promptly picked up the Brazilian to remove him from the pitch.

The goalkeeper received a yellow card for his troubles but could not prevent his side settling for a point and their subsequent failure to keep their season alive. Felipe had cancelled out Warren Creavalle’s opener for Toronto and in a frantic finale, three players saw red in the last eight minutes but Bendik and co were left to rue what might have been.
